Dear Vaisnavas,
Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
In this place I want to invite you to join discussions about chanting the Holy Name. I am eager to read your postings, if you find anywhere some nice point about chanting ‘hare krsna’, please put it here. Then let us also have discussion, and post or reactions to what we read, comments and questions. I am eager to begin our “JAPA TALKS”, I am sure that in each others association we will find new inspiration to chant.
Your servant, Kadamba Kanana Swami
That is stated in the commentary of Srila Jiva Goswami – that a pure devotee who chants Hare Krsna mantra immediately realizes the nama, rupa, guna, lila (name, form, quality and pastimes), everything about Krsna, simply by chanting the names.
Srila Prabhupada cited in Lilamrta
O my Lord, you can do everything, for even if a person is fit for going to hell, You can deliver him simply by awakening within his heart the holy name of Your Lordship.
SB, 9th canto, part of the verse 4.62
So long I have not posted anything, on this forum, it means I was not so busy on the internet, but meanwhile I was busy chanting.
To constantly glorify Krsna is the juice of life, the more we chant, sometimes in japa, sometimes in kirtan, or the more we hear about Krsna, the more juice will enter in to our life, untill it begins this juice begins to flood everything and we will find ourselves floating in an ocean of transcendental rasa. Other things are going on the sun is rising and setting, the clouds are passing in the sky, seeds are sprouting and trees grow, children are born, houses are build and money is made in the market place, but to just chant or hear in between is the juice of life.
ratri dina nama laya khaite suite tanhara mahima vede nahi pare dite, The Vedas are unable to describe the greatness of one who chants the holy name even while eating and sleeping all throughout the day and the night.
Instead of wasting time performing Vedic sacrifices, those who are intelligent, those who posses good brain substance, should take to the chanting of the Lord’s holy name and thus perform sacrifice perfectly.
Although Sukracarya was a strict brahmana addicted to ritualistic activities, he also admitted, nischidram anusankirtanam tava: “My Lord, constant chanting of the holy name of Your Lordship makes everything perfect.”
In Kali-yuga the Vedic ritualistic ceremonies cannot be performed as perfectly as before. Therefore Srila Jiva Goswami has recommended that although one should take care to follow all the principles in every kind of spiritual activity, especially in worship of the Deity, there is still a chance of discrepancies, and one should compensate for this by chanting the holy name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
parts of purport to SB 8th Canto, 23.17
I am finally chanting 16 rounds. I beg the mercy of the Vaishnavas so that I may be able to continue this practice on your strength and conviction.
Thank you.
Congratulations Annie! This is one of the most important decisions in our life, if not the most important one. You will be more and more happy. I wish you all the best and have many wonderful realizations while chanting!
Thank you, Gopali dasi. Words of encouragement from more experienced devotees are what keeps us hopeful and enthused.
” The mercy of Krsna comes into this world in the form of the Holy Name….The holy name can give us everything…”

Sukadeva Gosvami to King Pariksit]: Even if he be distressed or degraded, any person who chants the holy name of the Lord, having heard it from a bona tide spiritual master, is immediately purified.
Even if he chants the Lord’s name jokingly or by chance, he and anyone who hears him are freed from all sins.
Srimad-Bhagavatam 5.25.11

“‘O Supreme Lord, Sri Vishnu! Your sacred nama is absolutely cognizant and all-illuminating because the entire Vedic scriptures have emanated from Him. Your nama is the wellspring of supreme bliss, the embodiment of Brahman, is readily available, and is full of transcendental knowledge. We meditate upon the purport of Your nama, discuss nama amongst ourselves, and chant Your nama continuously. In this way, we worship you.’
RG Veda 1.156.3
Do you feel discouraged when you chant? Is chanting too hard? Your mind or body tired? Good. It means you have no qualification and that you have only Krsna to depend on. Now you are free to try your best to serve Krsna by chanting His holy names.
Bhurijana Dasa
From His book entitled Japa
Although chanting is the best way to remember Krsna, unless one has the mercy of the Lord and a service attitude, one cannot chant with concentration and devotion. Therefore to properly practice nama-sankirtana, it is essential to fully surrender to a bona fide spiritual master.
Dhanudhara Swami
(from His book entitled “Greetings from Vrndavana”)
The chanting of the Holy name is naturally at the centre of our Spiritual life. It is the most powerful process that is there. And in the chanting of the Holy name we are meeting Krsna. And when we meet Krsna we also meet ourselves. Because it is said just by the light of sun one can see himself. So by seeing Krsna one will also see himself. So the more we are entering into who is Krsna the more we actually understand who we are.

Sorry, the above quote was by HH Kadamba Kanana Swami
[Lord Caitanya to Sanatana Gosvami]: “Now hear from Me what actual love of Godhead is. It is the prime object of life and is symptomized by bodily trembling, tears in the eyes, chanting and dancing.”

Such a wonderful kirtan-weekend in Radhadesh Mellow..shown live on Kadamba Kanana Maharajs blog.!!I have been captivated throughout the weekend listening to this glorious Hare KRishna Mahamantra kirtan. I want to send a special Thank you note to Maharajs kirtan. HARE KRISHNA
Yesterday a devotee in an African Township (Umlazi) was initiated as Akanda Kirtan das – the unending glorification of Krsna. Mahavisnu Swami mentioned in the initiation class(paraphrased):
We may think how am I going to do this? How will I ever be pure in world we live in now? Then we turn to Lord Caitanya, the most merciful personality – and we call out:
sri-krishna-caitanya, prabhu nityananda
sri-advaita gadadhara ,srivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrinda
…then the heart becomes clear, and the offences are subdued and then we can really chant Hare Krsna.
sri krsna caitanya
prabhu nityananda
sri advaita gadadara
srivas adi gaura bhakt vrnda
You toucha my rounds!
I hope you nicely worshiped Krsna this morning(mangal ariti?). I just didn’t want to sacrifice my rounds. My life is hectic, it’s like from one program to another, from one place to another. It never stops. But one thing is sacred, is untouchable; my rounds. “Don’t toucha my rounds!” You know, they say, “If you smasha my car I smasha your face.” Well in my case, “If you toucha my rounds…..” It gets close to the heart.

Let us now conclude by paraphrasing a song from Srila Locana Das Thakura:
Who will come, O brothers and sisters? At the bathing place of my Lord Gauranga, a boat is waiting, free of charge. The boat of the Holy Name, it is. Everyone is welcome, without restriction: the lame, the blind, the distressed. All are welcome, without exception. Sri Guru is captain and the kirtan singers with upraised arms row all the oars. Help will be ours through the favorable winds of prema. Everyone who sails this boat can cross over this ocean of material suffering forevermore.

Srila Prabhupada explains in his purport to Sri Caitanya Caritamrita Adi Lila, Chapter 7, text 83:
“A sincere student aurally receives the holy name from the spiritual master, and after being initiated he follows the regulative principles given by the spiritual master. When the holy name is properly served in this way, automatically the spiritual nature of the holy name spreads; in other words, the devotee becomes qualified in offenselessly chanting the holy name. When one is completely fit to chant the holy name in this way, he is eligible to make disciples all over the world, and he actually becomes jagad-guru. Then the entire world, under his influence, begins to chant the holy names of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.”
Very Nice!
Our daily japa meditation, in which we chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra, is the most auspicious opportunity to directly and intimately commune with God every day. If the rounds are uttered sincerely and attentively with love and devotion, the chanting becomes an experience of great spiritual depth and intensity in which one awakens profound feelings of appreciation, connection, and submission to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The chanting of these rounds every day is the most important practical activity for awakening the love of God within one’s heart. Therefore when we accept someone as a disciple, the first requirement is that they must vow to chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day without fail as a lifetime vow.

The way to go deeper into the holy name is to become so much absorbed in the sweet sound of Krishna’s holy name that the entire material world fades into insignificance. When you remember that this material world really has nothing to offer you except for temporality, illusion, and misery and that Krishna is offering you eternity, knowledge, and bliss–you will naturally divert your attention more and more to Krishna and less and less to this material world. This is the meaning of going deeper into the holy name. Of course this does not mean that the devotee neglects this material world. When he comes out of his daily japa meditation he fully absorbs himself in saving the poor suffering souls of this material world from their illusory, temporary existence. In this way he perfectly dovetails his consciousness with Krishna both internally and externally.

chanting the holyname is like purchasing a ticket to goloka.when we sit to chant we should not think that today i m going to chant the holyname as i had chanted last day because our desire to increase the quality of rounds will not be there then the whole process will become mechanical instead we should pray to holy name that o holyname i have no qualification to chant u purely because i m most impure in whole creation but still o most merciful holyname pls come & dance on my tounge &make me a fully surrendered soul to u because its the first instruction of prabhupad & my guru that to chant 16 rounds.as prabhupad said that when one chants 16 rounds uninterruptadely it pleases me most.
In other words, a devotee who has heard the sound of Krsna’s flute forgets to talk or hear of any other subject. This vibration of Krsna’s flute is represented by the Hare Krsna maha-mantra.
CC, Madhya 144 part of purport
“‘When the seed of ecstatic emotion for Krsna fructifies, the following nine symptoms manifest in one’s behavior: forgiveness, concern that time should not be wasted, detachment, absence of false prestige, hope, eagerness, a taste for chanting the holy name of the Lord, attachment to descriptions of the transcendental qualities of the Lord, and affection for those places where the Lord resides-that is, a temple or a holy place like Vrndavana. These are all called anubhava, subordinate signs of ecstatic emotion. They are visible in a person in whose heart the seed of love of God has begun to fructify.’”
Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu 1.3.25-26
Worship the holy name, remember the holy name, make the name the essence of your life. Krsna’s names are innumerable and their glories unlimited.
Sri Krsnera Astottara-sata nama
Although we are very, very tiny and fallen souls, we are not hopeless. Our hope is the mercy of the Holy names. If you want Krsna’s mercy, place yourself in the hands of the Holy names and give up any sense you have of being the controller, even of your spiritual experience. All you can do is to listen carefully to your chanting and allow your consciousness to touch the Holy names. We must bathe ourselves as well as our mind-intelligence-false ego-material consciousness in the nectar of Krsna’s names.
Sorry the above quote was from Bhurijana Dasa in his book titled Japa
“The whole spiritual world is in our bead bag.”
Lagu Hari Prabhu
Bhurijna Prabhu writes in his Japa-Book that certain qualities attrackt Sri Krishna´s mercy: Guru-Seva, Faith, Sincerity, and to feel loved; to this last quality he writes:
“Perhaps we wonder why Krishna shuold love us. But His love is completely natural, for He is the seed-giving father of every soul (Bhagavat-Gita 14.4). He not only loves his devotees but the devotees of his devotees are also dear to Him (Srimad Bhagavatam 9.4.63). Whatever faults exist in us, great as they may be, are only coverings over our true selves, mere impositions on our actual nature. Can we trust Krishna´s unswerving affection for us? Out of His affection He steadastly accompanies us as we trasnmigrate from body to body, from human to hog to worm to germ. Whom but our dearest well-wisher would do that?”
In the begining the name becomes the shelter. Something thats always there. So many things can happen in life. We cannot say what will come but one thing is there, that is the name. It stays. So many suprises, years go by but the holy name stays. And if thats a fact then it becomes a shelter, then its not only that we have to tell ourselves to take shelter in the name, the name becomes a shelter because its the one thing thats sure. Nothing else is sure, nothing. You never know in this world what may happen. But as long as we chant Hare Krsna, that is there, no matter what and that is our shelter.

This is what will keep you steady. This is what keeps me steady. The statement by Srila Rupa Goswami is that these pushings will be there, but because they have the intelligence, they are able to tolerate. Why are they able to tolerate? Because of their intelligence. Not because they like these pushings, or not because the pushings stopped, but because they have the intelligence, they know what is the right thing to do. If we do not know what is the right thing to do, we will not do the right thing… so the only way you develop that is by hearing; by hearing, by studying, by reading…
