South Africa

It was a wonderful month in South Africa, because of the devotees, vaisnavas are such nice people. They are real friends. First I went to Durban and needed a bit of rest because I came in straight from the Leipzig, Ratha Yatra. The next program was in Soweto. The Ghetto where in the past about one million black african people were forced to live in poverty and injustice under the apartheid policy of the South African, white regime. more...

EKADASI, the Day of the Lord

We spent a nice Ekadasi in Sweden in a beautiful, natural setting in a summer house on a lake. The theme of the day was sadhana and although we increased our number of rounds and our hearing, it was still a very relaxing experience. We woke up in the early morning and jumped in the cool lake, a very nice and refreshing way to take bath then we began chanting and later more devotees came for the morning class. more...

How to keep one's relationship with Vrndavana

First let us analyze what our relationship is with Vrndavana and then see how we can develop it. Lord Caitanya explained that these are the five most important aspects in devotional service, which if even a little bit performed, can quickly bring one to the stage of love of God. One should associate with devotees, chant the holy name of the Lord, hear Srimad-Bhagavatam, reside at Mathura and worship the Deity with faith and veneration. more...

Vrndavana, Kartika '05

In Kartika we seek some shelter, some mercy and we go to the Holy Dhama. 'mathura vasa' to reside in the Holy District of Mathura, Vraja, is one of the five aspects of bhakti through which even if only a little, we can very quickly achieve love for Krsna. So it's important to come here. Even though at present my love for Krsna may be rather shallow. Srila Prabhupada made the phrase "Back to Godhead" a motto for all of us and wouldn't it be nice to join Krsna in His eternal pastimes in the spiritual world? more...

Back from the Rainbow

The Rainbow people started in 1972 in America in the spirit of going back to nature. There was influence from hippies and from sadhus in India and also from the Hopi Indians from North America. The Hopi Indians have a prediction that first a materialistic society would control and destroy the earth, then a new class of men would emerge and go back to nature and make the earth green again. I have even heard that amongst the six people who initially came up with the Rainbow concept, one was a former Hare Krishna, named Carana dasa. more...

Diary of a spiritual journey

With alternating warm and cold days the summer in Europe is happening. This is the time for many festivals, which are not ordinary but spiritual events full of transcendental potency. It all begins in May. For the last ten years I have been going to Germany to visit the holy abode of Lord Nrsimhadeva, which has been renamed as New Simhacalam, to celebrate the appearance day of the Lord. It really is a very special place, the temple is situated in a hilly tract of land about 800 meters high close to the Czech border. more...

Caitanya Candrodaya Nataka

During Ratha Yatra in Jagannatha all are jubilant except for some, Maharaja Prataparudra and some other devotees of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. The reason is given because Mahaprabhu is no longer present in this world and especially at times like this the devotees feel separation. A visitor enquires as to the reason why anyone could be unhappy during Ratha Yatra and an explanation is given. In the discussion that unfolds Caitanya Mahaprabhu is introduced. more...

Lecture from Mayapur - March 2, 2005

Originally when they asked me to give class they mentioned verses six and seven, so I've already tasted a little bit of these verses and it might spill over into the presentation of the present verse, because it was very attractive what was described. We are here studying the Thirteen Chapter of the First Canto, where it is described how Vidura, after having made a pilgrimage to various holy places and after being duly instructed by Maitreya Muni in transcendental knowledge and how Vidura has become fully accomplished in Krsna consciousness, how he returns home. more...
